HEAD OF EDUCATION

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is seeking a committed person to join the educational and outreach programme. You will play a vital role in educating the public about animal welfare issues, inspiring the next generation to advocate for the cause.

You will meet and engage with people from all walks of life and ages. Working in a supportive and mission driven environment, you will get an opportunity to develop professionally, while doing your part for the animals.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct education talks for both children and adults
  • Conduct group visits to the SPCA
  • Actively involved with the strategic development and execution of new education projects
  • Organise and coordinate exhibitions and events
  • Assist with management of various social media platforms
  • Produce content for publications and education materials
  • Other Ad-Hoc duties

 Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree/Diploma in relevant field
  • 2 years of working experience in relevant field
  • Good public speaking skills
  • Mature, eloquent and personable with excellent communication to interact at all levels

HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is seeking a dynamic individual to join us. As a Head of the Communications Department, you will be a leading person in promoting the animal welfare message and help the SPCA fulfil its mission of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals.

Key duties

  • Manage and produce content for SPCA’s communication platforms, including magazines, newsletters and social media sites
  • Manage publicity for the organisation, such as advertising campaigns and media releases
  • Generate media opportunities for SPCA and assist with responding to media queries
  • Respond to queries from members of the public and assist the frontline staff in positively representing SPCA’s views and policies

 Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree/Diploma in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • At least two years working experience in communications, media or marketing
  • Ability to manage projects independently, multitask, be meticulous and meet deadlines 
  • Mature, eloquent, personable with excellent interpersonal skills to interact at all levels

VETERINARIAN

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for junior and senior veterinarians to join our community animal clinic. The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and, eventually, pets from low income households.

As part of the clinic team, you will be responsible for the provision of the highest standards of veterinary medicine and care. As our clinic is currently expanding, you will be instrumental in helping us grow and develop into a full-fledged community animal clinic. You will also be involved with community health programmes that make a direct and positive impact on the lives of animals and their human caregivers.

Key duties

  • Fulfil our mission to provide quality veterinary medicine to needy animals
  • General clinical duties including consultations and surgeries
  • Oversee the health and welfare of all animals in the clinic and shelter
  • Monitor clinic and shelter disease control measures
  • Be actively involved with the strategic development, planning and delivery of enhanced veterinary capabilities and impactful community health programmes
  • Assist with developing and running a training programme for veterinary personnel

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare and strong interest in shelter medicine
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine recognised by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) (https://www.ava.gov.sg/explore-by-sections/pets-and-animals/animal-health-veterinarians/veterinary-licensing)
  • At least one year of small animal clinical experience for junior veterinarian applicants and seven years for senior veterinarian applicants
  • Experience and qualifications in shelter medicine preferred
  • Experience performing a range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries required for senior veterinarian applicants
  • Mature and personable with excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and interact at all levels
  • Able to work shifts, including on weekends

The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and pets from low income households.

Key Responsibility:

  • General clinical duties including consultations and surgeries

Requirements:

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine recognised by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) with at least one to two years of small animal clinical experience
  • Possess work rights in Singapore
