Talk about fun-filled days! The SPCA shelter was transformed into a hub of activity on three days during the December school holidays. The SPCA's Education Team organised a morning of fun and learning with the animals for 50 young SPCA supporters between the ages of seven and 16. The SPCA was teeming with youth supporters eager to learn about the work we do and brimming with questions about our cuddly friends.
The highlight of the sessions was the interaction with the animals in the adoption area. The young ones eagerly made a bee-line for the animals. And they were not disappointed! Our furry friends showered our young visitors with loads of love. It really was wonderful to see the mutual display of affection between human and animals. There is no doubt that the participants left the SPCA with a sense of understanding and certainly a passion to make this world a better place for our furry creatures.
Before they left, many of them signed on to be junior and youth members so that they will be kept in touch with the going on at the SPCA and continue their drive to learn more about the animal welfare cause. The education process is certainly an on-going exercise. We are busy preparing for the first-ever Animal Welfare Symposium for Students to be held at the Singapore Management University on the 7 March. It will be a wonderful platform to create awareness on animal welfare issues in our younger generation and get them involved in helping our animal friends. |
