Yesterday, our class went to the S.P.C.A. While boarding the bus, my friends chatted about the animals there. Out of the blue, the bus stopped by a green, run-down building. It only had two levels. I thought that it was an old house. But when I looked closely, I saw the words, 'S.P.C.A'. I was shocked! I heard exclamations of surprise from my friends too. I thought that the S.P.C.A would be a big air-conditioned building. I did not know that it was such a small place.

One at a time, my classmates alighted from the bus. We waited outside for Miss Sebastian, the education officer. While waiting, we watched the cats in their cages. Some were sleeping but some were restless. Miss Sebastian finally came out and gave us a talk on the second level about how to handle the animals while playing with them.

After the talk, all of us were so excited to play with the animals. We rushed down the stairs to take a look at the animals. Miss Sebastian carried a cute, little puppy named 'Bebe'. The whole class gathered around the puppy to pat it. Bebe had a missing paw as it had been bitten off by another dog. I felt sorry for it.

Next, Miss Sebastian unleashed another two dogs for the class to play with. The other dogs saw it and barked excitedly .I guess they were jealous of the dogs which could get out.

What captured my attention was a very well-behaved puppy with brown fur and ears which were white and curly, as if it had been styled in the latest fashion. My friend, Isabelle, and I went into its cage to pat it. As Isabelle had a dog which was of the same breed, she managed to handle it very well. The 'fashion haired' dog was very well-behaved and kept sniffing my skirt. I felt nervous when its wet nose touched my skirt. I froze. Isabelle laughed and told me to relax and squat down to pat it. We stayed in the cage for about fifteen minutes and then we decided to go to the cages of the other dogs. But the 'fashion haired' dog blocked the exit, so Isabelle gently pushed it back and we got out of the cage.

We went to view the other dogs but we did not go inside their cages. After that, I went to the nursery where they kept mice, rats, hamsters and cats. The cats had their names labelled on their cages. There were two cats with the names 'Romeo and Juliet'. What adorable names! They were in the same cage! There was another cat named 'Moo Moo'. She was very adorable and whenever I called her name, she looked at me and mewed. I was standing beside Moo Moo looking at another cat. Suddenly, I felt something touch my shoulder. I turned and saw Moo Moo reaching out her paw and mewing. I was so surprised. Also, there was another cat named 'Angel'. She had big green eyes and snow white fur!

Next, I went to the cattery. There were more than ten cats inside. They were lazing about and some were sleeping. There were many places for them to hide too. After being in the cattery for about fifteen minutes, it was time for us to leave. Before we left, some of my classmates bought posters at the price of a dollar each. I also bought one.

Then, we boarded the bus back to school thinking about the wonderful time we had at the S.P.C.A.

Just a few thoughts to end my journal entry, I really felt sorry for those animals in the S.P.C.A. When we arrived, the animals were so excited. They were longing to get out of their cages. I can imagine how they must have felt inside their cages, waiting for someone to adopt them day after day. I really appreciate the S.P.C.A for taking in all the animals. Without the S.P.C.A, the unwanted animals will not be able to survive.
