The SPCA on occasion, receives complaints about animals (e.g. fish and rabbits) being given away at promotions. This practice is not permitted in Singapore and the SPCA would advise the public to report any such company doing so.

Please call the SPCA at 6287 5355 or alternatively report it to the Agri-food & Veterinary Authority at 6471 7198/6771 9996 without delay. You would need to provide SPCA with your name and contact number for easy reference if any follow up is needed.

The Society objects strongly to the practice of pets being given away free. This does not foster responsible pet ownership and the person at the receiving end may not know how to look after the animal.

The pet could end up suffering from neglect as a result.
