Please help us to save more lives
The SPCA will not turn away any animal from our shelter.

But the simple truth is every new stray or abandoned pet we get puts pressure on the limited space we have for others. From our experience over the years, only about 2 out of every 10 have the chance of finding homes with the kind people who turn up at our door.

The rest of the animals, sadly, are put to sleep.

It is not something we want any more than you do. We get over 600 animals on average every month, about one animal every hour of the day, on average.

Any animal given up to the SPCA may be put to sleep in 24 hours
If you cannot accept that this animal may be put to sleep within 24 hours from now, please find an alternative instead of giving it up to us. For care of newborn puppies and kittens, please click here.
How to find a home?
  • Ask friends and relatives if they can help
  • Put up an ad in the newspaper classified section
  • Put up notices on bulletin boards at supermarkets and vet clinics. Put a picture of your pet, if you have one
  • Post information and photos of the animal online. For contacts of animal organisations and websites, please click on “links” here on our website
  • Do all of your family members know that your pet is being given up to the SPCA?
This decision should be discussed with the whole family.
Changing your mind 24 hours after surrender maybe too late to reclaim the animal.

If you have decided to surrender an animal to us, please note that we are not able to inform you of the outcome.

Please help us avoid the SPCA from becoming a dumping ground for unwanted animals. There are alternatives to merely discarding an unwanted animal at the doors of the SPCA.
